Some weeks ago, Suzie Baleson gave me a set of questions to help me find my core values. As 2015 and the next steps in my career get closer, I thought it would be a perfect time to dive into these questions and make sure that I’m moving forward in a way that’s aligned with my values. After 6-8 hours of deep thinking and writing between yesterday and today, I can confidently say that it’s one of the most important exercises I could have done in this moment of aspired evolution.
Below are the questions. Thanks to Suzie for being such a guiding force towards consistency and honesty.
1- What am I grateful for?
2- What do you love doing?
3- What is one thing that you would never do again?
4- What is a situation/challenge in your life that keeps happening over and over again? What’s one action you can take to eliminate it? What can you learn from that?
5- What was the most influential/impactful moment of your life? What drove such an impact and strong reaction in that moment?
6- What do you wish people said about you?
7- What are you really good at?
8- What are you really bad at?
9- Up to now, how do you feel that you have most impacted others?
10- Going forward, how do you most wanna impact others?
11- List ten words that will help you live your life according to your answers.
PS: These are more useful for people that have spent a decent amount of time in their lives doing serious introspection and journaling of their experiences, lessons, etc., and have a good grasp of who they are and how they got to where they are. If you find these questions too hard to answer, that should be a sign that you need to inject more introspection and journaling in your life.
